BIO World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology and Bioprocessing, April 29 - May 2 in Orlando
- Steve Donen, VP of Process Development and Engineering, will present Rivertop Renewable's scale-up progress and plans at this seminal industry event. Scheduled for 10:30am on Monday, April 30, Steve will present along peers from Genomatica, Ecosynthetix and Evonik Industries as part of a session titled "Commercial Scale Production of Renewable Chemicals." Steve leads Rivertop's scale-up its proprietary catalytic oxidation process capable of producing a platform of novel sugar acids and drop-in organic acids. The advantages of this re-invented technology include high product yields, process efficiency and feedstock flexibility that enables a broad platform for bringing various C-5 and C-6 renewable chemicals to market. The title of Steve's talk is "Scaling a Catalytic Oxidation Platform for Novel & Drop-In Chemicals." For more information, please visit www.bio.org/worldcongress.
Cleaning Products 2011, October 5-7 in Washington, DC
- Rivertop Director of R&D, Dr. Tyler N. Smith, unveiled data revealing that salts of glucaric acid can be formulated to create a new builder for the automatic dishwashing detergent market. Dr. Smith demonstrated that formulated glucarate can serve as cost-effective, high performance calcium sequestering agents and corrosion inhibitors in this higher pH application. The presentation reported on lab tests revealing that formulated glucarate shows comparable binding capacity as phosphate on both a weight and a molar basis at pH 11. Dr. Smith also shared photographic evidence that glucarate-based builders prevent spotting to a degree comparable to phosphate when layered on top of a leading auto-dish detergent and when included in a basic ADW formulation.
